Ingredients: For suji ke modak Recipe
- Rava / Suji - Fine - 1 cup
- Saffron - 1/4 TSP
- Non dairy milk - 2 and 1/2 cup
- Vegetable Oil - 1 TBSP
- Sugar - 1 and 1/4 cup
- Cardamom powder - 1 TSP
How to Make homemade suji ke modak Recipe Step-by-Step Instructions
- Mix the saffron and 1 TBSP of warm , non-dairy milk and keep aside.
- In a pan heat 1 TBSP of oil.
- Add suji to the warm ghee and roast on a low to medium heat till it changes color and releases nutty flavor.
- Add the hot non-dairy milk and kesar/saffron milk and mix well.
- Add sugar and mix well. Make sure there are no lumps in the mixture.
- Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes or till the suji is cooked.
- Add cardamom powder and mix well.
- Turn off the flame and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Take a lemon size ball of the mixture . To give it a twist , I stiffed the ball with 8-10 finely chopped pieces of dry figs.
- Put the ball into a modak mould and shape it into a modak .
