  1. Rava / Suji - Fine - 1 cup
  2. Saffron - 1/4 TSP
  3. Non dairy milk - 2 and 1/2 cup
  4. Vegetable Oil - 1 TBSP
  5. Sugar - 1 and 1/4 cup
  6. Cardamom powder - 1 TSP

How to Make homemade suji ke modak Recipe Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Mix the saffron and 1 TBSP of warm , non-dairy milk and keep aside.
  2. In a pan heat 1 TBSP of oil.
  3. Add suji to the warm ghee and roast on a low to medium heat till it changes color and releases nutty flavor.
  4. Add the hot non-dairy milk and kesar/saffron milk and mix well.
  5. Add sugar and mix well. Make sure there are no lumps in the mixture.
  6. Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes or till the suji is cooked.
  7. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  8. Turn off the flame and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  9. Take a lemon size ball of the mixture . To give it a twist , I stiffed the ball with 8-10 finely chopped pieces of dry figs.
  10. Put the ball into a modak mould and shape it into a modak .
