For Gulab Jaumn -
- Rava / Suji fine - 1/2 cup
- Almond milk or any non-dairy milk - 1/2 cup
- Sugar - 1 Tsp
- Vegetable oil - 1 Tsp
For Syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- Saffron strands (optional)
Ingredients: For Gulab Jamun:
- 1/2 cup fine rava/semolina
- 1/2 cup almond milk or any non-dairy milk
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp vegetable oil
- Oil for deep frying (around 1 cup)
How to Make homemade vegan suji ke gulab jamun Recipe Step-by-Step Instructions
Instructions:
- In a pan, add non-dairy milk and 1 tsp sugar. Mix well and bring to a boil.
- Add 1 tsp vegetable oil to the pan and stir well.
- Add rava / suji to the mixture, keep stirring and make sure there are no lumps.
- Close with a lid and cook on very low heat for 2-3 minutes.
- Switch off the heat and let the mixture rest for another 5 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a plate and knead into a soft dough.
- Make equal-sized small smooth balls from the dough. If at any point the dough feels too dry, sprinkle a few drops of non-dairy milk. Be careful not to make the mixture too soft or wet.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan on medium heat and fry the balls until they turn golden brown.
- Once all the gulab jamun are ready, add them to sugar syrup and bring it to a boil.
- Let the gulab jamuns rest in the syrup for at least 30 minutes.
