Ingredients: For Panchmel Dal
- Mix dal / alternatively take masoor dal , moong dal, urad dal , tur dal , channa dal in equal portions - 2 cups
- 1 finely chopped tomato
- Hing / Asafoetida - 1/2 Tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 Tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 Tbsp
- Cumin - Coriander powder - 1 TSP
- Garam masala - 1 Tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1 Tsp
- Vegetable oil - 1 Tbsp
- salt to taste
- water to adjust consistency.
How to Make Panchmel Dal Step-by-Step Instructions
- Wash the dal thoroughly , add 1/4 tsp hing powder , turmeric powder , chopped tomato , 2 cups water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame.
- For Tampering heat a pan on medium heat. Add oil. Once hot add cumin seeds , after they tamper add hing powder.
- Add the boiled dal and mix well. Add water to adjust consistency.
- Add the rest of masala's , salt and get a nice boil.
- Garnish with finely chopped cilantro.
- Serve with hot roti's or rice.
