Ingredients For Vegan Tomato Dal Recipe
- Tomato - finely chopped - 2
- Onion - finely chopped - 1
- Hing / Asafoetida - 1/2 Tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 Tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1 Tsp
- Garlic - finely chopped - 2-3 cloves
- Urad dal - 1 Tsp
- Curry leaves - 4-5
- Whole red chilies - 2-3
- Mustard seeds - 1 Tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 Tsp
- Tamarind concentrate - 1 Tsp
- Vegetable oil - 1 Tbsp
- salt to taste
- water to adjust consistency.
Method For Preparing Tomato Dal Recipe
- Wash the dal thoroughly , add 1/4 tsp hing powder , turmeric powder , chopped tomato , 2 cups water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame.
- For Tampering, heat a pan on medium heat. Add oil. Once hot add mustard seeds , let them crackle. Add cumin seeds , hing powder , chopped garlic and curry leaves. Saute just for a minute. Add onion and saute till they turn translucent.
- Add the boiled dal and mix well. Add water to adjust consistency. Add tamarind concentrate and salt to taste and mix well. Get a nice boil
- Garnish with finely chopped cilantro. Serve with hot rotis or rice.
