Ingredients
- Tuvar Dal / Split pigeon pea - 1 cup
- Hing / Asafoetida - 1/2 Tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 Tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 TSP
- Cumin seeds - 1 TSP
- Red chilli powder - 1 Tsp
- Whole red chili - 3-4
- Curry leaves - 4-5
- Garlic cloves - crushed - 3-4
- Methi/Fenugreek seeds - 1 TBSP
- Vegetable oil - 1 Tbsp
- salt to taste
- water to adjust consistency.
Method -
- Wash the dal thoroughly , add 1/4 tsp hing powder , turmeric powder , red chili powder and 2 cups water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame.
- For Tampering heat a pan on medium heat. Add oil. Once hot add mustard seeds , cumin seeds , after they tamper add hing powder , whole red chili and curry leaves.
- Add the boiled dal and mix well. Add water to adjust consistency.
- Add the salt and get a nice boil. Garnish with finely chopped cilantro.
- Serve with hot rotis or rice.
