Ingredients For Vegan Khamani Recipe
- Besan / Gram flour - 1 cup
- Ginger paste - 1 Tsp
- Green chili paste - 1 Tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 Tsp
- Lemon juice - 1 Tsp
- Vegetable oil - 1 TBSP
- Sugar - 1 Tsp
- Salt to taste
- Water - 1/4 + 1/3 cup + 1 Tsp
- Hing powder - 1/4 Tsp
- Baking Soda - 3/4 Tsp
- Pomegranate seeds
- Sev
Method For Preparing Vegan Khamani
- In a bowl add turmeric powder , lemon juice , sugar , vegetable oil , salt to taste and 1/4 cup water. Mix well till the sugar dissolves in water .
- Add besan , ginger paste , green chili paste . Mix well. Add water as needed to get a smooth batter .
- Grease a steamer pan with vegetable oil . Also bring to a boil 2 to 3 cups of water in a steamer .
- Once the water boils , add 3/4 Tsp baking soda to besan mixture and 1 Tsp water and mix well. Pour the mixture in a steamer pan . Place the pan in a steamer , close the lid and steam for 15 minutes on medium heat.
- Add the tadka as you do you dhokla . Cut into pieces . Take the side pieces and crumble them into powder.
- Add pomegranate seeds and sev and mix well. Garnish with freshly grated coconut and finely chopped cilantro.
